Bjork recently was awarded certification as a SPHR by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI), based in Alexandria, Virginia. The certification signifies that she now possesses the theoretical knowledge and practical experience in human resource management necessary to pass the rigorous four-hour examination and demonstrates a mastery of the body of knowledge in the field. Nationally, only 57-percent of applicants for the SPHR designation passed the required exam this year, and there are only 53,000 HR professionals certified at both the PHR and SPHR level.
